I feel web3 has always been closely associated with dApps (as per Gavin’s inaugural article on the concept in 2014 [ĐApps: What Web 3.0 Looks Like]), and maybe unconsciously let it slip into that “category” there.

I agree it’s become a narrative of its own (distributed content-addresses storage; private data kept client-side; pseudonymous messaging; control over identity). I think, though, it’s broader and less defined than the later narratives portrayed. Certainly a good reminder for an updated version down the road 🙏
